My symptoms began when I was 8 years old…
Pain. Dislocations. Fatigue. Weakness. Digestive issues. And more pain.
Growing up, I hid my pain well. On the outside, I appeared, by all standards, a “normal” kid. But I was far from normal.
Under the surface, I harbored years worth of pain (physical, emotional, spiritual), guilt, shame, anger, and self-worth issues. I channeled this baggage into helping others, and I became a nutritionist and an occupational therapist. I loved this work (and still do). But not long into this journey, I realized that I was giving more to others than I was giving to myself, and that if I ever wanted to experience true healing, I needed to go deeper, embody self-love, and walk my own talk.
Thus began my own journey of self-kindness, love, joy, healing, grieving, and so much more. This is a lifelong endeavor that has no end, but I have taken what I’ve learned so far and shifted it into purposeful coaching and life planning for others. Because I now embody my own message, I am better able to serve other women who are also living with chronic illnesses.
Strategy & Coaching
I firmly believe that we all already have the tools we need to embody freedom, love, joy, and pleasure. But in order to bring those qualities out of ourselves, we need strategy and support. We benefit greatly from having a plan, witnessing someone else’s example, utilizing specific strategies, and receiving coaching that challenges us and motivates us to go deeper.
That is what I do! I help women with chronic illnesses to peel back the layers of self-hatred, quiet the noise of chronic pain and fatigue, uncover their own light shining within, and create a life that allows that light to shine in a big, meaningful way.
This strategy and coaching has similar roots for each person I work with, but it is highly individualized because we are all unique beings with unique needs, wants, desires, and struggles.
The strategy portion of my work is grounded in my background knowledge and training: nutrition, exercise, adaptations, joint protection, and much more. I help women to create a powerful routine of self-care and holistic wellness that quiets the noise of the symptoms of their chronic illnesses.
The essence of my coaching work is asking the right questions to dive deep. I help women to develop new perspectives, shift their mindset, and powerfully restructure their lives to make room for positive changes.
Bringing It All Together
My coaching program is called Desirous Story because the core of my coaching focuses on two things: desires and stories.
Each of our lives are woven together with stories – stories of the dark times we have been through, stories of our triumphs and successes, stories of our failure, stories of our great loves and friends, stories of our unique talents and gifts, and stories of our seemingly mundane daily activities. When strung together, these stories make us who we are and who we will become. Telling these tales – and preparing to write new ones – is powerful and healing.
Each of us also has a particular blueprint of desires – activities that light us up and make us feel whole – that when followed leads to fulfillment of our life’s purpose, joy, healing, and mindfulness. It is up to each one of us to create this blueprint in our own lives based on our own individual needs, wants, skills, talents, and stories and to devote ourselves to giving it the time, resources, and attention it needs to grow.
